Lower Manhattan, Federal Plaza.
The sky was as gloomy as a rag soaked in sewage, pressing low against the pinnacles of the skyscrapers. A biting wind howled through the forest of reinforced concrete, whipping up fallen leaves and discarded newspapers from the roadside.
Alexander Hamilton sat in the back seat of his Bentley, the doors locked tight.
Outside, the red and blue police light
